Artist's Comments

Posting some of my work done in my Computer Art I class.

This is one of my pieces for the Abstract Image project where we had to pick a mood or emotion and try to portray it through just colors and shapes.

This is my favorite of the three I did, serene.

Enjoy. :)

Made in Photoshop 7.

It's pretty in person, it's pretty here :]

Question, though: did you intentionally set out to do this, did it involve a lot of tweaking, or did it totally happen by accident?

Well, lemme see. I knew I wanted to do the word serene, and I knew I wanted to use blue. There was something in my thought process about smooth, flowing lines, like wind, too.
But when I started I had no idea what to do with those thoughts.
It took a lot of tweaking to get the exact texture I was looking for, and I still don't think I totally accomplished what I wanted. The sunburst-esque thing coming from the top right was sort of spur-of-the-moment, and then I realized I actually needed to add some sort of motion/focal point to the piece.
I added the lens flare at the end to add a more 3-D effect.

So I guess, in simple terms, the original planning was intentional (obviously), but most of it was accidental because of all the tweaking I had to do to get it to what I was picturing.
Hope that wasn't too boring to read.

Thanks for the compliment, though. :D
Btw, I love your abstract image of nausea. It almost evokes nausea just by looking at it. And that's a good thing, in this case. :)
